As part of its mandate and in response to the challenge to increase the participation of African-Americans on state boards and commissions, the Kansas African-American Affairs Commission (KAAAC) maintains a talent bank of applications from African-Americans who are interested in appointment to state boards, councils, commissions, or task forces.
The KAAAC serves as a resource by forwarding these applications to appropriate appointing authorities. Generally, positions on state boards and commissions are unpaid, and are appointed by the Governor, President Pro Tempore of the Senate, Speaker of the House, or other state officials in accordance with state law.
